The Rise of the E-Foil: How PWR-Foil made its mark on the Olympic Games
E-foil is much more than just a trend. It's a revolution in the world of water sports, and PWR-Foil is at the forefront of this innovation. Here's a look back at this landmark event and how PWR-Foil captivated the public.
An Unexpected Invitation and a Huge Challenge
It all started with a big surprise. ‘When this invitation arrived, it was a real surprise! To receive an email that propels you onto the world stage is absolutely incredible!’
This recognition of our hard work sent a wave of excitement through the team, who immediately shared the news. But accepting such an invitation was only the beginning of a much bigger adventure.
Preparing for an event of this scale leaves nothing to chance. Every detail has been carefully planned, from the choice of boards to the choreography of the demonstrations. ‘As soon as we said ‘yes’, the collective brain went into overdrive’. ‘We had to think of everything: which board to show the world, which wing to choose, how to stand out... Everything had to be perfect to leave a lasting impression.
Spectacular demonstrations for an enthusiastic public
The e-foil demonstrations were a highlight of the Olympic Games. Three times a day, between different events, our aim was to impress the crowd. The carefully prepared duet choreography kept the show dynamic and avoided repetition. ‘It was intense, but it was also an incredible thrill to ride in front of such a massive audience.’
Of course, not everything went off without a hitch. Unexpected crashes spiced up the show, but far from spoiling the performance, they added a touch of authenticity that captivated the audience. The crowd, growing in numbers by the day, greeted these demonstrations with wide eyes and boundless curiosity. ‘The exchanges were fantastic, and people were genuinely curious and enthusiastic. Many were discovering e-foils for the first time, and the Made in France PWR-Foil really left a lasting impression.’
For these demonstrations, we used our brand new e-foil model, the REVO. Three different models were presented: the Revo Pro 4'0 with a 700 cm² wing, the Revo Pro 4'6 with a 900 cm² wing, and the Revo Classic 5'0 with a 1,100 cm² wing. Each model has been chosen to showcase the exceptional capabilities of these e-foils and deliver breathtaking performance.
The E-Foil: An Olympic Sport in the Making?
With such a demonstration of strength and technique, the question of the future of e-foil as an Olympic sport naturally arises. We are convinced that e-foil has everything it takes to become an official discipline. ‘We firmly believe that e-foil is much more than just entertainment; it's a sport in its own right.’ We have organised or co-organised more than five e-foil competitions in 2024, showcasing riders' technique, agility and style through events such as slalom, time trials and freestyle.
The hope of e-foil becoming an Olympic sport is very real, and demonstrations such as those at the Olympic Games are another step towards that recognition. For the PWR-Foil team, seeing e-foils at the Olympic Games one day would be a dream come true.
